Custom Charts

By default, the reference Charts used in Poker Spin Tracker are the Charts from the Poker Sciences Preflop Pack: an Exploit strategy vs Fish and a GTO strategy vs Reg , built to match the real Spin pool.

For the vast majority of players, these Charts will be perfectly suitable and you won't need to touch them. But if you want to create your own custom Charts, that's also possible, and we'll see here how to do it.

Note: everything related to Charts (Poker Sciences or custom) does not live in Poker Spin Tracker, but in your Chart Library on the Poker Sciences website. Anything you change in this Chart Library on the web is automatically synced with the Poker Spin Tracker software running on your computer.

As explained in the previous chapter, this feature is reserved for users who have the Preflop Pack because it directly uses its Charts and underlying system.

Good news though: even if you don't have the Preflop Pack, the Charts from this pack are used for free to calculate your preflop accuracy.

The mage: I quite like this symbol. It captures the connection between the Charts on Poker Sciences and Poker Spin Tracker. All the tools are integrated together and create a simple, powerful ecosystem.

1. The Chart Library at a glance

The Chart Library gathers all your Charts, organized situation by situation, stack size by stack size, and split between vs Fish and vs Reg .

View of the Chart Library: 13x13 grid of a BTN 20+ bb Chart on the left, sidebar on the right with vs Fish/vs Reg selectors, table format (3-max/HU), position (BTN/SB/BB), stack size, and the active references widget at the bottom.
The Poker Sciences Chart Library: all your work on preflop Charts happens here.

At the bottom right of the sidebar, two dropdown menus display your active references:

  • An active reference vs Fish
  • An active reference vs Reg
Widget at the bottom right of the sidebar: two dropdown menus vs Fish and vs Reg showing the active reference, with a + Custom button below.
The active references widget. This is where you switch between Poker Sciences Charts and your custom Charts.

By default, these are the Poker Sciences Charts:

  • GTO vs Reg
  • Exploit vs Fish

They are only replaced by your custom Charts if you decide so explicitly.

2. Create and activate a custom Chart

On the situation and stack size you want to customize:

1. Click on + Custom to create a new Chart.

The active references widget, with the vs Fish and vs Reg menus dimmed and the + Custom button highlighted at the bottom.
The + Custom button is the starting point to create a new Chart.

2. You start from a copy of the current reference, to edit cell by cell (simple edit, or splits to mix several actions). You'll see, we tried to build the most intuitive system possible.

Chart editor: 13x13 grid on the left, Brush panel on the right with the available actions (All-in, Raise (big), Raise, Call, Check, Fold) and their frequency.
Editing happens directly on the grid by selecting an action and its frequency in the Brush panel.

3. Give it a name and save it in the right situation and for the right stack size. It's added to your library without replacing what already exists.

Save dialog: Chart name input field, Cancel and Save buttons.
Pick a clear name: it's what will help you find and activate the right Chart later.

4. This Chart automatically becomes the active reference Chart for this specific situation and stack size (and only for vs Fish or vs Reg , depending on what you selected). You can choose to deactivate it, modify it or delete it by clicking on the dropdown .

Chart selection menu with a custom Chart "My range" and the Exploit Chart active.
In this example, you have a custom Chart "My range", but watch out: the active Chart is Exploit. Click on "My range" to make it active vs Fish for this specific situation and stack size.

5. You can also for PUSH or CALL Charts add a threshold in the cell. This threshold determines from how many blinds (bb) you should push or call this hand.

Chart edit interface with a threshold field in blinds in the Brush panel.
Add a threshold if you're editing a PUSH or CALL Chart.

You can save as many versions as you want for this specific situation and stack size and switch between them whenever you want. As long as a Chart isn't set as the active reference, it stays parked on the side, ready to be reactivated.

3. Sync between web and desktop

The Chart Library lives on the Poker Sciences website. The Poker Spin Tracker app that you install on your computer needs to fetch the latest version of your Charts to use them in the Leak Finder and the preflop mistake detector.

Sync is automatic when you open the Leak Finder on desktop: if you've just created or modified a Chart in the Chart Library, simply open the Leak Finder to trigger the sync.

If auto-sync isn't enough, you can force it from My account → Desktop Connection → Sync with web.

Sync button between Poker Spin Tracker and the web.
The mage: you'll also be able to force the sync with a button that looks like this... (a shadow steps forward on the ground. The mage stops talking, as if he had recognized someone)

4. When to customize, when to keep the default

For the vast majority of players, the Poker Sciences Charts are an excellent reference.

You can build your entire strategy around them, all the way to the highest stakes.

But as you progress, several reasons may lead you to create your own custom Charts:

  • You already follow Charts from coaching, masterclasses or Chart packs, and you want to use them in the tracker.
  • You exploit the opponent data measured in the tracker and use a solver to build exploitative Charts tailored to your pool.
  • You want to simplify a few combos to gain clarity at the table, which is perfectly fine.

That's when you'll want to bring your own changes, and that's when custom Charts truly make sense.

Keep in mind that the Poker Sciences Charts were designed as references: an excellent base, combining performance and simplicity.

But it's not an ultra-strict guideline you absolutely have to follow in every situation. In poker, there are bad decisions, but sometimes also several good decisions of equal value.

5. Key takeaways

Custom Charts are not mandatory. For the vast majority of players, the Poker Sciences Charts remain a solid, clear and sufficient base.

Chart Library: everything is configured on the Poker Sciences website, then synced with Poker Spin Tracker.

Creation: a custom Chart starts from a copy of the active reference, then is edited cell by cell.

Activation: a Chart can become active only for a specific situation, stack size and profile: vs Fish or vs Reg .

This chapter wraps up custom preflop Charts. In the next chapter, we leave the 13×13 grid behind to open the Postflop tab...

Master Valrand listens to the mage at the end of the chapter.
Master Valrand: Oh, don't stop on my account... Please continue. I'm listening.
